This is the Observatory that I built in 1994. It sported a 12 1/2"
inch reflector that I also built myself. The tube is 7 Ft. long and 16" in Diameter. It has a computer guidance system and it has numerous other features that I designed, such as a 27 point flotation
system for the main objective, a rotatable filter wheel, a remote
focusing attachment, and an original finding scope with a headsup
display. I built a high resolution recording system so that I could
take stills and videos of celestial objects. The roof slides open on wheels that run in tracks.
I was fortunate in that I had a view of the entire ecliptic from East to West.
There is low-level red lighting to protect night vision, A lighted stairway on wheels, and stereo music. I enjoyed having Sky Parties where many friends were invited over for a night of feasting and enjoying the wonderful Northern night sky.
