* POETRY *

The following is one of many dozens of poems from one of the books that I wrote entitled "Poetry for the Classroom" © (I'm looking for a publisher)

The Birds of Eden

I’m deaf and so I cannot hear the quiet little sounds

That others take for granted ‘cause they’ve always been around.

Like songbirds in the morning, the autumn leaves in flight,

A gentle breeze that stirs the trees, the cricket’s song at night

But God has seen it fit for me to hear some special sounds

And if I listen carefully, there’s many to be found,

The distant choir of children (Angels in disguise),

And the birds of Eden sing each morning when I rise.

The music of a rainbow that spans the sky above

(The first of many ballads That tells us of His love)

It seems that other’s ears are filled with too much useless chatter

Important sounds they use to hear, no longer seem to matter

But I can hear the subtle things, some very special sounds,

The laughter of a happy heart, or tears come crashing down

Sometimes when you’re close to me, the sound I love the best

Is when your warm and loving heart plays tunes against my chest

Sometimes I wish that I could hear you calling out my name,

But, with or without words, I’m sure, “I love you” sounds the same.
