The Nurse brought you from the nursery,
And handed you to me,
I looked into your big blue eyes,
And all that I could see,
Was love and awe of all the things,
In this brand new mystery.
Time seemed to stop forever,
And there was just us three.
You asked if I would protect you,
In words no one else could hear,
I smiled and said, "Of course I will,
There's nothing here to fear".
Then I handed you to your Mother,
She held you to her heart,
There was so much love engulfing us,
And that was just the start.
So many happy years have passed,
Since you were born, my son,
Years filled with love and gratefulness,
I thank God for everyone.
You've always been successful,
At everything you've tried,
You've always been on top of things,
You've been a source of pride.
Since you were born you looked up to me,
For strength and guidance too,
You've grown up in so many ways,
