Looking back, the happy memory

Of my childhood takes me soon

To the faded days of summer’s

Warm and lazy afternoon

Mother smiling, tears of laughter

Eyes reflecting sky of blue

Sounds of little children playing

Dad would tend the barbecue

Smoky visions dance and linger

Happy days that went too fast

Golden moments are my treasure

Broken fragments of my past

When the thoughts of days you cherish

Leave you yearning, don’t be sad

Thoughts are all that we take with us

Thoughts are all we’ve ever had.
